On 12 Aug 18 Deputy Johnson along with the Little Muskingum Volunteer Fire Department responded to County Road 9 in Independence Township to a report of subject(s) burning plastics, furniture and tires. This case remains under investigation.
On 12 Aug 18 Deputy Schwendeman responded to Belpre Township to a report of domestic violence. In speaking with all parties this case was determined to be unfounded.
On 12 Aug 18 Deputy Schwendeman responded to the Par Mar, 66 Arrowhead Road, Little Hocking, to a call about a male subject sleeping in a truck in the parking lot. Deputy Schwendeman approached the vehicle and observed a male subject, later identified Joseph Knowlton, partially seated in the driver seat. The keys were on the seat next to Knowlton. An attempt was made to wake Knowlton by verbal commands through the open window but he did not respond, until he was shaken. Knowlton appeared confused and would not answer the questions he was asked. Knowlton had extremely bloodshot eyes, slurred speech and a strong odor of alcoholic beverage about his person. Knowlton stated he had not been using drugs or alcohol. Knowlton would not exit the vehicle when asked, stating he had not committed any crimes. Knowlton continued to refuse to comply with orders by the Deputy and was removed from the vehicle and placed in handcuffs. While searching the defendant’s person a plastic bag was located in his front pocket which contained a green leafy substance suspected to be marihuana. A small pipe with suspected marihuana residue was also located in Knowlton’s pocket. Joseph Brett Knowlton, age 36, 5494 Pounds Road, Glouster, Ohio, was placed under arrest for having physical control of a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, obstructing official business, possession of marihuana, and possession of marihuana paraphernalia. Knowlton was transported to the Washington County Jail for processing. An outstanding warrant from Delaware County, Ohio, was also served on Knowlton.
