On 5 Aug 18 Sgt. Reeder and Deputy A McConnell responded to the 11 mile marker northbound on I-77 to a report of a female walking in and out of traffic. The female, identified as Brittany D. Tolliver, could not answer questions clearly and was acting erratic. Tolliver admitted to taking drugs that morning. Tolliver asked to return to her vehicle, which was parked approximately 1 mile from our location. The vehicle was found to belong to another subject who had not given permission for Tolliver to take it. Brittany D. Tolliver, age 33, 50425B Bigley Ridge Road, Long Bottom, Ohio, will be summoned into Marietta Municipal Court on a charge of OVI and driving under license suspension.
On 5 Aug 2018 Deputy Johnson responded to Camden Clark Memorial Hospital to a reported domestic violence incident which occurred at 68 Haynes Road, Little Hocking, Ohio. Philip Smith, Syracuse, Ohio, reported being assaulted by his father, Ishmael Smith, while at his residence. Philip came to the residence to get his children, which Ishmael has kept and cared for. Philip was in the passenger seat of the vehicle and stated he got into a verbal argument with his father who did not want the children to go with Philip. During the argument Ishmael kicked the car door shut and hit him with a garden spade. Deputy Johnson met with Ishmael J. Smith at his residence about this incident. Ishmael explained he did not want the children to go with Philip due to Philip’s habits, and these habits are part of the reason he has been caring for the children. Ishmael explained he remembered closing the door to the car but does not remember causing harm to his adult son. Ishmael Jeffrey Smith, age 55 was arrested and transported to the Washington County Jail for violating 2919.25, Domestic Violence.
On 5 Aug 18 Deputy Metts along with the Grandview and Newport Volunteer Fire Department responded to 406 Broadway Avenue, New Matamoras, to a residence fire. The fire was extinguished with minimal damage to the home.
On 5 Aug 18 Sgt. Parks along with the Salem, Fearing and Devola Volunteer Fire Departments responded to 375 Dalzell Road, to the Robert McAlarney home to a fire of a hay baler and the building it was stored in.
On 6 Aug 18 Deputy Carr spoke with Samantha J. Burns, Charlee Street, Newport, Ohio, who reported a Trail Blazer and utility trailer removed from her property. This case remains under investigation.
On 6 Aug 18 Deputy Hall along with the Reno and Newport Volunteer Fire Departments responded to the Barth Farm, 4685 County Road 9, Reno, to a fire where trash and tires were burning. This case remains under investigation.
On 6 Aug 18 Deputy Zide met with Larry Wheeler Jr., 671 Muskingum River Road, Marietta, Ohio, to a report of a Polaris RZR900 stolen from the property. The vehicle has been recovered and the investigation continues.
On 7 Aug 18 Robert Parker, 100 Close Road, Newport, reported to Deputy Hall the theft of a cell phone booster. This case remains under investigation.
On 10 Aug 18 Lt. Hornbeck and Deputy Zide responded to 1644 Way Road, Belpre, Ohio, to 1 911 hang up call in which a male stated someone was after him. The male subject was identified as Zachary McCroskey. Through investigation it was determined to place Zachary Shawn McCroskey, age 35, under arrest for disorderly conduct by intoxication.
