Ohio Organized Crime Investigations Commission
An investigation by Agents of the Ohio Organized Crimes Investigations Commission, Washington Morgan Noble Major Crimes Task Force resulted in the arrest of Edward Murphy, Jr.
On 16 Apr 18 Agents with the Major Crimes Task Force executed a search warrant at 204 Brandy Drive, Marietta, Washington County, Ohio.
Agents encountered two individuals in the residence, one of them being a juvenile and then located Edward Murphy, Jr. in the garage between two vehicles. Edward resisted, however Agents were able to place him in custody.
Upon searching the residence, agents located two baggies of heroin with a combined weight of 11.64 grams, several sets of digital scales, numerous packages of baggies, several glass vials, empty pill capsules, a loaded syringe of suspected heroin, two drug ledgers and $12,105 in cash. One baggie of heroin was found in the garage ceiling and the other baggie was located by the defendant’s vehicle.
While being escorted out of the residence, Murphy stated that he threw a baggie of heroin into the garage ceiling after hearing the Agents.
Edward Eugene Murphy Jr., age 37, 204 Brandy Drive, Marietta, Ohio, was arrested for trafficking in heroin, a first degree felony, tampering with evidence, a third degree felony and endangering children, a first degree misdemeanor.
Edward Murphy Jr. appeared in Marietta Municipal Court on these charges and was released on bond. He is currently being held on a Marietta Municipal Court Probation Violation charge.
The Washington Morgan Noble Major Crimes Task Force is part of Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine’s Organized Crime Investigation Commission and is comprised of representatives of Post 84 of the Ohio State Highway Patrol; Washington, Morgan and Noble County Sheriff’s Offices; the Marietta, Belpre and McConnelsville Police Departments; and the Washington, Morgan and Noble County Prosecutor’s Office.
