On 24 Dec 17 Deputies responded to Hometown Honda, 1301 Pike Street, Marietta, in reference to possible entry into the building. This case remains under investigation.
On 24 Dec 17 Deputy Johnson began an investigation into counterfeit money. This case remains under investigation.
On 24 Dec 17 Sgt. Reeder responded to McAlarney Pools, Pike Street, Marietta, in reference to suspicious activity. This case remains under investigation.
On 24 Dec 17 Deputy Parks responded to Sugar Run Road in reference to tires being dumped. This case remains under investigation.
On 24 Dec 17 Deputy Allender was dispatched to the Oriana House, 27830 State Route 7, Marietta, regarding Robert Huffman being in possession of contraband identified as Gabapentin and Suboxone pills. Robert Eugene Huffman, age 33, was placed under arrest and transported to the Washington County Jail for processing. Huffman is charged with possession of a controlled substance, a 5th degree felony.
On 25 Dec 17 Deputies were dispatched to 120 Tennis Center Drive, Apartment A, Marietta, in reference to Chelsea Cordray-Buchanan reporting harassing messages from her boyfriend, Jerry Grose. Chelsea informed Deputy Parks about two separate incidents during which Jerry had assaulted her when they lived together the past year. On 20 Nov 17 Chelsea had returned home with a friend at which time Jerry approached her as she exited her vehicle. Chelsea states that Jerry grabbed her and threw her to the ground, grabbed her by the hair, and slammed her head off of the car. Chelsea states further that she was able to get away from him, and got into her car with Jerry again grabbing her, striking her in the face and attempting to pull her through the car window by her jacket. Chelsea advised the second incident took place on 22 Dec 17 when Jerry used two open hands and pushed her down the hallway causing her to fall. Chelsea states she begged him to stop, and Jerry told her she was going to take it like a man. Chelsea states that Jerry has made threatening remarks to end her life. A witness to the abuse corroborated the information that Chelsea reported. Jerry Wayne Grose, age 48, 405 East Branch Road, Lowell, was placed under arrest for 2 counts of domestic violence and transported to the Washington County Jail for processing. A temporary protection order was requested.
On 25 Dec 17 Deputy Schwendeman responded to 1417 Sealy Ridge Road, Vincent, to a possible domestic disturbance. Dispatch advised Leonard Todd had left the residence and was driving a vehicle with no bumper, or valid operator’s license. Dispatch advised there were also warrants for the arrest of Leonard D. Todd out of the Belpre Mayor’s Court. A vehicle matching the description given by dispatch was observed heading toward the residence where Deputy Schwendeman was on scene. The driver, later identified as Leonard D. Todd, pulled to the side of the road and exited the vehicle. The plates on the vehicle were not registered to that vehicle. Leonard Dale Todd, age 19, 1541 Sealy Ridge Road, Vincent, was arrested on warrants out of Belpre as well as driving under suspension and fictitious registration. Todd was transported to the Washington County Jail for processing.
On 25 Dec 17 Deputy Jones was dispatched to Weppler Road, Lowell, to handle a hit and run at that location. Corey Wilson, 1216 Weppler Road, Lowell, was operating a 2007 Ford Focus when a vehicle travelling east side-swiped him and continued on. The vehicle that struck Wilson, a 2000 Mazda, was driven by Eric Dean Barth, 1470 Weppler Road, Lowell, and was parked down the roadway in the middle of the road. Upon contacting Barth he stated he crested the top of the hill and did not have enough time to get over. Barth then continued on due to having a suspended operator’s license. Deputy Jones was also advised that the vehicle had no insurance coverage. Barth was issued a citation for failure to reinstate, operating a motor vehicle without proof of financial responsibility and failure to stop after an accident.
On 25 Dec 17 Deputy Zide responded to a domestic violence disturbance. After speaking with all parties it was determined to be unfounded. Case closed.
On 26 Dec 17 Sgt. Holbert responded to Dollar General, Orchard Drive, Little Hocking, to a theft complaint. This case remains under investigation.
The following suspects were processed into the Washington County Jail Tuesday Wednesday 27 Dec 17 and Thursday 28 Dec 17:
Justin Alexzander Simpson, age 28, 309 Harmar Street, Marietta, Ohio, for having weapons under disability, a felony. Simpson was arrested on Maple Street by Patrolman Giffin of the Marietta City Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on 27 Dec 17 at 2:19 pm.
Dakota Anthony McCormick, age 21, 459 Main Street, Philo, Ohio, on warrants for breach of recognizance, FRA suspension and no plates, all misdemeanors. McCormick was picked up at Zanesville Jail by Patrolman Kampmeier of the Marietta City Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on 27 Dec 17 at 6:52 pm.
Joseph Vincent Safety, II, age 65, 104 W. Spring Street, Marietta, Ohio, for menacing by stalking, a misdemeanor. Safety was arrested at his residence by Deputy Parks of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and processed into the Washington County Jail on 28 Dec 17 at 1:44 am.
Steven Andrew Fryman, age 26, 290 Dye Street, Newport, Ohio, for disorderly conduct, a misdemeanor. Fryman was arrested by Patrolman McElroy of the Marietta City Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on 28 Dec 17 at 2:51 am.
McKenzie Ann Cowman, age 24, 814 Seneca Drive, Belpre, Ohio, for aggravated drugs possession, a felony. Cowman was arrested at the Washington County Courthouse by Deputy Sheaves of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and processed into the Washington County Jail on 28 Dec 17 at 9:15 am.
Preston Vern Archie, age 25, 171 Mill Branch Road, Belpre, Ohio, on a warrant for domestic violence, a misdemeanor. Archie was arrested by Patrolman Giffin of the Marietta City Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on 28 Dec 17 at 11:30 am.
There are currently 18 females and 98 males incarcerated in the Washington County Jail.
