On 10 Nov 17 Deputy Johnson issued a citation to Keith Whealdon, 2460 Huck Road, Lowell, for driving under suspension.
On 11 Nov 17 Deputy A. McConnell met with Michael Simons, 1674 McGill Road, Vincent, in reference to a stolen license plate. This case remains under investigation.
On 11 Nov 17 Deputy Johnson responded to Belpre Township in reference to a possible domestic incident. In speaking with all parties it was determined to be unfounded. Case closed.
On 11 Nov 17 Sgt. Reeder was dispatched to the Pit Stop gas station at 3355 State Route 821, Marietta, to a report of two subjects in a silver van possibly using drugs in the parking lot. Upon arrival at the location Sgt. Reeder observed a silver mini-van bearing Ohio registration parked in front of the side doors. The vehicle had 2 occupants in the front seats, with the engine running and the headlights on. Contact was made contact with the driver, Aaron Cain. A check was done on Cain and found that his license was suspended. The passenger, Jodi Cain, was also checked and she was found to be suspended as well. Aaron Cain advised that he drove the vehicle to that location and knew his license was suspended.
The Cains were asked if a search could be conducted on the vehicle as it was reported by several customers at the store that it appeared they had been using drugs. They both gave consent to search the vehicle and located on the front passenger seat was a small baggie of marijuana. Jodi stated the marijuana was not hers, but she could not give a reason for it being between her and a blanket that was covering it. No other drugs or paraphernalia was located in the vehicle. The drugs were taken into evidence, with them weighing 1.49 grams. A summons will be requested for Jodi Lynn Cain, age 33, 16687 SR 339, Dexter City, OH, for possession of marijuana. A citation was issued to Aaron Cain, 16687 Crooked Tree Road, Dexter City, OH, for driving under suspension.
On 11 Nov 17 at approximately 0315 hrs., Christopher Sciance was brought to the Washington County Jail by the Marietta Police Department on charges of drug possession and drug instrument possession. Corrections Officer Holbrooks asked Sciance if he had anything on him, such as drugs, with Sciance stating no. Officer Holbrooks again asked Sciance if he had anything on him or in him that he is not to bring into the jail and he stated, “I may have some meth in my right pocket”. Officer Holbrooks found a plastic baggie with hearts on it containing a white crystal like substance inside of another plastic baggie in Sciance’s right change pocket. Also in the pocket was an orange substance wrapped in plastic. Sciance later stated the orange substance was suboxone, and the white substance was meth. Christopher Adam Sciance was charged with conveyance into a correctional facility, a 3rd degree felony, and processed into the Washington County Jail on all charges.
On 12 Nov 17 at approximately 0925 hours Sgt. Mankins and Deputy Parks were dispatched to 715 Dunbarger Road, Lowell, in reference to Ashley Henthorne reporting Deandre Jones at her residence, and would not leave. Henthorne advised she was not sure what time he was dropped off, however it was after midnight on today’s date. Henthorne states she engaged in several verbal arguments with Jones while he was there, and at one point he slapped her left cheek. Henthorne states the argument was over Jones saying things in front of the children and she did not want him talking that way in front of them. Henthorne states they were again arguing at approximately 0730 hours at which time he grabbed her, spun her around, and punched her in the right side of the head near her right eye. Henthorne states during the struggle, and before Jones punched her, her glasses fell off. At one point Jones walked into the garage, which connects to the residence, and Henthorne shut and locked the door. Henthorne reports Jones then went to the rear of the home and began banging on the windows, and actually broke one of the sliding glass doors. Through further investigation it was learned Jones had also kicked, and broke a fish tank sitting at the rear of the residence and also attempted to damage the fire pit. Jones had left the residence prior to Deputies arriving. Henthorne was asked if she wanted to file for a protection order with her stating that she did. A warrant is being requested for Deandre Leon Jones, age 30, 1006 14Th Street, Parkersburg, WV, on a charge of domestic violence.
On 14 Nov 17 at approximately 2330 hrs. the Washington County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call from Samantha Marsee, 117 Buells Circle, Marietta, in reference to her live in boyfriend, Curtiss T. Davis, cutting himself with a saw. Deputies along with the Reno Volunteer Fire Department Squad responded to the location. Contact was made with Davis who appeared to be bleeding from his throat area. Davis was advised that the squad was there to assess his injuries at which time he became evasive and started to stand from his seated position. Due to the unknown cause of injuries and potential safety hazards remaining accessible to the defendant Deputies attempted to restrain him. Davis became physically resistant to the point a Taser had to be utilized to gain control of him. Once control was gained of Davis he continued to be physically resistant combative with Deputies. Deputies then learned Davis used a battery powered circular saw to cut his throat area in an apparent suicide attempt. Davis was transported to a medical facility to have his condition assessed.
Marsee reported to Deputies that on 13 Nov 17 Davis made comments of wanting to kill himself. Marsee stated Davis entered the bedroom where she keeps her firearm, and acted as if he was going to retrieve the firearm. Marsee stated she pulled Davis away from where the firearm was located by his waist, with Davis throwing her on the bed and holding her there. Marsee further stated that Davis attempted to pull her cellular phone away from her and when she wouldn’t let him have it Davis placed her in a choke hold while pulling her onto the couch. Marsee states she begged Davis to stop because he was hurting her, and he eventually let her go.
On 14 Nov 17 Marsee states Davis apologized to her and stated he would never do anything like that to her again, and would do whatever it took to make things right. Marsee stated she was in fear for her safety during the altercation between her and Davis, further advising that she did not want to press charges and only believed that Davis needed help. Marsee declined a protection order against Davis. A warrant is being requested through Marietta Municipal Court for the arrest of Curtiss Taylor Davis, age 28, 117 Buells Circle, Marietta, OH, for domestic violence. (790)
