Breaking and Entering Suspect Arrested

On 04 Nov 17 the Washington County Sheriff’s Office Detective Bureau responded to National Carports, 201 Ayers Boulevard, Belpre, where earlier Deputies were called to a breaking and entering at that location. During the crime a MacBook laptop had been stolen as well as cash from an accounting business which also operates out of that location. Names of possible suspects were given to the Detectives at that time.
On 06 Nov 17 Det. McPeek was at the Barlow Par Mar when he observed Wesley Roberts, who was a possible suspect, and had previously worked at National Carports. Wesley Roberts was also wanted on 2 Failure to Appear warrants out of Belpre. Det. McPeek approached Roberts and upon speaking with him advised him of the warrants out of Belpre and that he was being placed under arrest on those charges. Det. McPeek completed a pat down of Roberts and located a loaded Glock handgun concealed in his waistband. Roberts was also in possession of thousands of dollars in cash.
Det. McPeek requested to search Roberts’ vehicle locating a MacBook laptop in the trunk. The serial number on the MacBook laptop matched the serial number reported stolen by Cody Williams of National Carport.
Det. McPeek advised Roberts of his Miranda Rights at which time he confessed to breaking into the businesses on Ayers Road.
Wesley Orland Roberts, age 25, 2070 Roberts Road, Amesville, OH, was arrested and charged with a 5th degree felony breaking and entering, 4th degree carrying a concealed weapon, and a 3rd degree felony theft, as well as the failure to appear warrants.
Roberts was transported to the Washington County Jail where he remains until his initial appearance in Marietta Municipal Court.
