On 12 Sep 17 Sgt. Reeder and Deputy A. McConnell responded to 643 Goose Run Road, in reference to Michael Hinton being assaulted by Carl Vandale. Carl Vandale also called the Sheriff’s Office reporting he was assaulted by Michael Hinton.  Deputies arrived finding Hinton outside the residence. Sgt. Reeder asked Hinton what happened with him stating that Carl was yelling obscenities at his (Carl’s) sister so he confronted him about it.  Hinton stated that Vandale shoved him three times, and then Hinton punched Vandale in the side of the head knocking him to the ground.  Deputies spoke with Vandale who stated that Hinton got in his personal space and he shoved Hinton away from him approximately three times.  Vandale states he then turned and walked away with Hinton punching him in the side of the head.  Both subjects blamed the other. Carl S. Vandale, age 64, 585 Goose Run Road, Marietta and Michael P. Hinton, age 45, 100 Deerhaven Street, Marietta, were each given citations for disorderly conduct by fighting.

On 12 Sep 17 at approximately 11:40 p.m. Sgt. Reeder responded to Oak Grove Lane, to investigate a suspicious silver van driving around the area numerous times.   A vehicle matching the description was observed in which a traffic stop was conducted.  Contact was made with the operator, Lisa Bartlett, who stated  she was lost and was trying to find her boyfriend, David L Slagle.  Bartlett stated she dropped him off at the Tiger Stop and he took off walking and she was driving in the area looking for him.  Bartlett was advised to return to the Tiger Stop and wait on Slagle there.  Sgt. Reeder then continued patrolling the Oak Grove area.  Sgt. Reeder entered onto Oak Grove Lane from Waterford Road and observed a tire lying in the grass along the roadway.  Continuing on towards BF Goodrich Road, Sgt. Reeder observed  a male subject wearing black shorts and a hoodie standing in the bushes in a yard.  Sgt. Reeder stopped and the male identified himself as David Slagle. When asked what he was doing he stated that he was waiting on his girlfriend to pick him up.  Slagle was sweating and his hoodie was wet with grass on the back and sleeves.  A pat down was conducted on Slagle at that time finding a pair of black gloves in his pocket.  Slagle was then placed in handcuffs and advised he was not under arrest at this time, just being detained.  Sgt. Reeder checked the area for signs of criminal activity.  Deputies arrived to assist Sgt. Reeder and were advised of concerns and findings thus far.  Also located near the tire was a red hydraulic jack,  and a vehicle that was missing two tires and rims.  Lt. Norman advised Slagle of his Miranda Rights and questioned him regarding his presence in this area.  Slagle advised his girlfriend dropped him off to get his lunch box at RJF, then changed it to they got into an argument and he told her to stop the car so he could just get out and walk home.  Slagle explained that he had been weedeating earlier and that is why he was covered in grass and sweating.   Bartlett was contacted via public service as she was at the Tiger Stop waiting on Slagle.  Bartlett admitted over the phone that she dropped Slagle off there to steal the tires and the red hydraulic jack was hers. Bartlett met with Deputy Johnson and he was able to recover the second tire.  David Lee Slagle, Jr., age 36, 4869 Rainbow Road, Lowell, was placed under arrest for possession of criminal tools, theft, obstructing official business and criminal trespass, all misdemeanors.  Slagle was transported to the Washington County Jail for processing.
