On 6 Sep 17 Deputy Metts began an investigation in reference to an assault at a Marietta business. This case remains under investigation.
On 7 Sep 17 Deputies began an investigation on Hanna Road, Marietta, in reference to a residence being entered and items taken. Those items include a 36” TV, Xbox game system, Beats headphones, watch, and misc. jewelry items. This case remains under investigation.
On 7 Sep 17 Lt. Hornbeck responded to Par Mar Store 2, 8600 State Route 339, Barlow, to a theft complaint. The manager had observed a suspicious acting female in the store, and then left the store only paying for a fountain drink. The video was checked finding the female had stolen a Chick O Stick, Gummy Octopus candy and another gummy candy, with a total value of $5.17. The female was also observed getting into a vehicle with a male subject known to the manager. Lt. Hornbeck went to the residence of the male subject and spoke with occupants there. Lt. Hornbeck was advised that the male had driven the female, known as Lisa, to Parkersburg, WV, and dropped her off. Contact was made with the male and he advised he was returning with the female to the residence. Lt. Hornbeck observed the vehicle and was able to conduct a traffic stop. The female occupant initially advised her name was Christy. The male and female were both advised of their Miranda Rights at which time the female advised her name was Lisa Hoffman. Dispatch ran the information provided by Lisa and found that Lisa Ann Dunlap Hoffman had an active warrant out of Franklin County, OH, for probation violation. Lisa admitted to taking the candy items and also in her possession were two purses, which she gave permission to be searched, stating there may be a sharp item inside. An empty syringe was located and Lisa advised it was hers and it was used with heroin, and possibly as late as that morning. Lisa Ann Hoffman, age 44, 20 Anvil Road, Waverly, WV, was placed under arrest for theft, drug instrument possession and the warrant for probation violation and transported to the Washington County Jail for processing.
On 7 Sep 17 Deputy Parks along with the Reno and Fearing Volunteer Fire Departments responded to 102 Randolph Road, Marietta, to a house fire. The fire was extinguished prior to Deputy Parks arriving. The fire was reported to be accidental, no further action needed.

Jennifer D. Science, 1321 Lancaster Street, Apt. 101E, Marietta, failure to appear; original charge aggravated trafficking.
Charles R. Conrad, 223 Sams Lane, Washington, WV, failure to appear; original charge passing bad checks.
Zachary P. Schoolcraft, 1114 Walsh Road, Vincent, failure to appear; original charge driving under the influence of alcohol/drugs.
Kyle S. Flanagan, 318 Fairview Lane, Marietta, miscues of credit cards.
Joshua S. Sorcic, 19706 Keenan Cutoff Road, Montgomery, TX, failure to appear; original charge driving under the influence of alcohol/drugs.
The following subjects were recently sentenced in Washington County Common Pleas Court:
Devin Michael Moore, age 19, 33665 State Route 26, Rinard Mills, OH, 3rd degree burglary and 4th degree felony vandalism; 120 days county jail.
Krystal Kay Carpenter, age 37, 1660 Old Turnpike Road, Little Birch, WV, 3rd degree felony illegal conveyance; 90 days county jail.
The following suspects were processed into the Washington County Jail between Thursday 7 Sep 17 and Friday 8 Sep 17:
Lisa Ann Hoffman, age 44, 20 Anvil Road, Waverly, WV, for theft and drug possession, both misdemeanors, and warrant for probation violation, a felony. Hoffman was arrested in Barlow by Lt. Hornbeck of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and processed into the Washington County Jail on 7 Sep 17 at 8:54 pm.
There are currently 22 females and 90 males incarcerated in the Washington County Jail.
