On 8 Aug 17 while patrolling Interstate 77 Deputy Zide observed a Dodge Durango cross the right fog line on 3 successive occasions. A traffic stop was conducted and contact with the driver was made.  A check of the driver, Michael Caldwell, revealed his operator’s license was not valid.  A citation was issued to Caldwell for marked lanes and no operator’s license.  An odor of marijuana was detected by Deputies at the scene.  Caldwell advised he had a marijuana pipe in the vehicle.   A search of the vehicle revealed a marijuana pipe, marijuana, cocaine, digital scales, unidentified pills and a marijuana grinder.  Michael Thomas Caldwell, age 39, 103 Veron Street, Russell, KY, was placed under arrest and transported to the Washington County Jail where he was charged with 2 counts of drug possession, drug paraphernalia, no operator’s license, and marked license.

On 8 Aug 17 Deputies were dispatched to 27250 State Route 7, Marietta, in reference to an altercation. The subjects were identified as Joseph Michael Porter and Victoria Porters. During the investigation it was determine an act of domestic violence had occurred.  Victoria reported Joseph came after her with his fist drawn back and she believed he was going to strike her.   Victoria stated Joseph’s actions placed her in fear and she requested a temporary protection order.  Joseph adamantly denied making any threatening statements or actions against his sister.   A witness to the altercation stated that Joseph was chasing Victoria from inside the house to the outside.  Joseph was yelling at Victoria and had his hands pulled back in an aggressive manner.   Joseph Michael Porter, age 21, was arrested for domestic violence and transported to the Washington County Jail for processing.

On 8 Aug 17 Deputy Hall along with the Devola Volunteer Fire Department Squad responded to a report of an unresponsive male.  Case is marked closed.

The following warrants were received at the Washington County Sheriff’s Office:

Samantha J. Burns, 20 Charles Street, Newport, for failing to restrain a dog.

Charles R. Miller, 910 Caywood Road, Marietta, for driving under suspension.

Carly A. Stephens, 703 33rd Street, Parkersburg, WV, for failure to appear for court on a charge of driving under suspension.

Aaron D. Wells, 1399 Scotts Ridge Road, Whipple, for criminal damaging and criminal trespassing.

The following suspects were processed into the Washington County Jail between Wednesday 9 Aug 17 and Thursday 10 Aug 17:

Lindsey Marie Lucas, age 33, 108 Colonial Square, Belpre, on a warrant for illegal conveyance of weapons/items into a detention facility, a felony. Lucas turned herself in to the Washington County Jail and was processed on 9 Aug 17 at 12:28 pm.

Mark Lynn Valentine, age 44, 905 13th Street, Parkersburg, WV, for a probation violation, a felony. Valentine was picked up at North Central Regional Jail by Deputy Doak of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and processed into the Washington County Jail on 9 Aug 17 at 3:17 pm.

Melissa Dawn Gibson, age 37, 735 Seventh Street, Marietta, for drugs possession, a felony, drug paraphernalia and tampering with evidence, both misdemeanors. Gibson was arrested by Patrolman Blasko of the Marietta City Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on 9 Aug 17 at 11:07 pm.

There are currently 20 females and 93 males incarcerated in the Washington County Jail.
