NEWS RELEASES FOR 28 JUL 17


On 22 Jul 17 Deputy M. Brown responded to an assault complaint in a dorm at the Washington County Jail.  Sonya D. Coe and Pamela Carpenter were standing by the bunk area.  Coe was advised of her Miranda Rights in which she waived them and stated that Carpenter had hit her on the side of the head.   Carpenter was advised of her Miranda Rights as well in which she waived those rights, stating that she struck Coe with an open hand on the side of the head.  Pamela D. Carpenter, age 57, 4112 Conway Circle, Virginia Beach, VA, was charged with assault on Sonya Coe.

On 28 Jul 17 Deputy M. Brown filed theft charges on Jeremy W. Carpenter, age 32, 804 Front Street, Marietta, for removing a battery from a television remote.  Carpenter admitted to Deputy Brown that he had in fact taken the battery.

On 25 Jul 17 Andrew J. Riffle, 7822 State Route 555, Cutler, reported a truck battery and tool(s) removed from the property.  This case remains under investigation.  (907)

On 26 Jul 17 Sgt. Reeder was dispatched to the 200 Block of Ferry Street, Beverly, regarding a person lying in the ditch between Ferry Street and State Route 339. The Beverly Waterford Squad arrived on scene first and woke the subject, identified as Dana Seevers. Beverly Squad members advised Seevers was extremely intoxicated but coherent. Sgt. Reeder found Seevers in the back of the squad and when asked if he had been drinking Seevers said he had.  Sgt. Reeder asked how much and he replied “a-lot”. Seevers’ speech was slurred when he spoke and he was unable to tell Deputies where he lived at first just “Third Street”.  Dana Ryan Seevers, age 32, 3869 State Route 607 McConnelsville, was placed under arrest for disorderly conduct by intoxication.  While walking Seevers to the patrol vehicle Seevers pointed towards the SR 339 Bridge into Waterford and said that was his house, which was actually the Waterford Bank.  Seevers was turned to face Third Street in Beverly and Dana said “I guess I don’t know where I am”. Seevers was transported to the Washington County Jail where he tested .269% BAC on the PBT.

On 27 Jul 17 Deputy Parks was dispatched to 1154 Patten Mills Road, Cutler, in regards to Mariah Smith calling 911, and reporting her brother, Anthony Trent Hill, had put his hands on her and hit her with a toy.  Deputy Parks met with Smith who advised she and Hill had become involved in a verbal altercation in regards to disciplining her children.  Smith advised the verbal altercation escalated.  Smith took Deputy Parks inside the kitchen where the incident happened and demonstrated what had taken place.  Smith advised Hill picked up a toy and hit her on the back.  Smith advised she turned around at which time Hill attempted to punch her in the face.  Smith stated that Hill “grazed me right here”, pointing to her left cheek area.  Smith went on to state that Hill grabbed her by the hair, which was in a bun on top of her head, and “bounced my head right off of that”, indicating the counter.  Smith advised at that time she pushed him off of her in an attempt to leave the kitchen, at which time Hill drew his fist back again as if he was going to hit her.  Smith told Hill at that time that she had called 911 in which he fled the residence.   A warrant was requested through Marietta Municipal Court and issued for Anthony Trent Hill, age 28, 1154 Patten Mills Road, Cutler, for domestic violence.

On 27 Jul 17 Deputy Allender responded to the Washington County Juvenile Center in reference to a subject leaving the facility without permission.  The area around the Center was checked with negative results.  This case remains under investigation.

On 27 Jul 17 Deputy A McConnell responded to 27335 State Route 7 Lot 13, Marietta, in reference to Shirley Gregor stating James Morgan took her vehicle, a 2012 Chevrolet Impala, without permission.  Gregor stated that Morgan was at her residence on Tuesday, 25 Jul 17, until approximately 1730 hours and upon Morgan leaving Gregor noticed her keys were missing from her dining room table.  Attempts to contact Morgan were made in which Morgan stated he would bring the vehicle back, however he did not do so.  A warrant for the arrest of James Tyler Morgan, age 23, 606 10th Street, Marietta, was requested through Marietta Municipal Court on a charge of theft of a motor vehicle.

On 27 Jul 17 Deputies responded to 4235 Patten Mills Road, Stockport, in reference to David Burt stating his live-in girlfriend, Cassie Connell, assaulted him.  Burt stated he and Cassie have been in a relationship and living together for approximately 7 months and he now wanted to end their relationship.  Burt stated he asked Cassie if she would leave the residence for the day and not return.  Burt stated this is when she became angry and took a beer bottle and hit him across the face, and then left the residence.  Burt did have a bump on the right side of his cheek, where he stated she hit him with the bottle.  Attempts to contact Cassie met with negative results.  A warrant was requested and issued through Marietta Municipal Court for Cassie Maxine Connell, age 31, 2900 Olney Run Road, Stockport, for domestic violence.  (415)

On 28 Jul 17 Sgt. Reeder was dispatched to meet with Meryl Hadlock, Warren Chapel Road, Marietta, in regards to an assault complaint.  Meryl Hadlock states she was with her boyfriend, John S. Henry Jr. at 13077 Waterford Road, Waterford when Henry began to argue as he was receiving messages via Snap Chat from his ex-girlfriend regarding him cheating. Meryl said she was trying to leave and Henry got more upset, grabbing her by the arms, and then the neck.  Meryl states she struck him to get away and he persisted, grabbing her from behind, placing his hand over her mouth so hard she received a cut to her upper and lower lip.  She further stated he struck her in the face during the altercation, however, she was eventually able to get away, leave, and go home.  Deputies viewed marks to Meryl’s face which were consistent with what she had reported.  Meryl states that Henry called her and left an inaudible voicemail message due to his crying, and also sent text messages to her phone stating she was going to make it worse.  Deputies responded to 13077 Waterford Road where Henry was observed sleeping in a bedroom on the first floor.  Henry eventually woke up and stepped outside to speak with Deputies.  Henry was asked if he knew why Deputies were there and he stated he did not.   Henry was asked if he had an argument with Meryl Hadlock to which he stated they did but he didn’t hurt her.  Henry was then questioned about the cuts on her lips and bruises and he stated he did not know, that she did not have them when she left there.  A very strong odor of alcohol was detected on Henry’s breath while speaking with him.  Henry stated that he had not been drinking “today”, and reported being on probation through Marietta Municipal Court for an OVI charge.  John Sherman Henry Jr., age 19, 2140 Caywood Road, Marietta, was placed under arrest for assault and underage consumption and transported to the Washington County Jail for processing.  Once at the jail, he tested .210% BAC on the PBT.

The following suspects were processed into the Washington County Jail between Thursday 27 Jul 17 and Friday 28 Jul 17:

David Eric West, age 35, 26 Aqua Circle, Parkersburg, WV, on a warrant for probation violation, a misdemeanor.  West was arrested on Ninth Street by Patrolman Ellenwood of the Marietta City Police Department and was processed into the Washington County Jail on 27 Jul 17 at 1:03 pm.

Tylor Shayn Carpenter, age 19, 223 Green Street, Marietta, for sexual battery a misdemeanor.  Carpenter was arrested at the Marietta City Police Department by Patrolman Giffin and was processed into the Washington County Jail on 27 Jul 17 at 1:35 pm.

Amber Dawn Duff, age 27, 223 Greene Street, Marietta, for probation violation, a misdemeanor. Duff was arrested at the Adult Parole Authority by Deputy Sheaves of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and processed into the Washington County Jail on 27 Jul 17 at 3:49 pm.

Mark Anthony Hart, age 26, 434 Douglas Avenue, Marietta, for criminal damaging/endangering, a misdemeanor. Hart was arrested at his residence by Patrolman Giffin of the Marietta City Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on 27 Jul 17 at 5:10 pm.

Ethan Wade Ash, age 29, 1365 Gilman Avenue, Marietta, for probation violation, a misdemeanor. Ash was arrested in Marietta by Probation Officer P. Brockmeier and processed into the Washington County Jail on 27 Jul 17 at 8:50 pm.

John Sherman Henry Jr., age 19, 2140 Caywood Road, Marietta, for underage consumption of alcohol and assault, both misdemeanors. Henry was arrested at his residence by Sgt. Reeder of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and processed into the Washington County Jail on 28 Jul 17 at 3:59 am.

Anthony Wayne Fletcher, age 31, 220 Pennsylvania Avenue, Marietta, for obstructing official business, drug paraphernalia, and parking near a curb, all misdemeanors, and possession of drugs, a felony. Fletcher was arrested at his residence by Patrolman McElroy of the Marietta City Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on 28 Jul 17 at 4:23 am.

There are currently 25 females and 107 males incarcerated in the Washington County Jail.
