On 7 Jul 17 Deputy Allender was dispatched to School House Road, Belpre regarding a single vehicle traffic crash.  Deputy Allender located the crashed vehicle pulled onto Quail Street.  The vehicle appeared to be disabled with significant damage to all sides as well as leaking fluid(s).  The location of the crash was easily detected.  The driver, Bryon Forrest Walcutt, age 18, 3160 State Route 124, Racine, OH, initially stated his tire blew however upon further questioning advised he was distracted by looking at his phone.  Walcutt gave Deputy Allender permission to search the vehicle.  In that search a small baggie with a green leafy substance consistent in smell and appearance to marijuana was located.  A citation was issued to Walcutt for failure to control and a summons will be requested through Marietta Municipal Court for possession of marijuana.

On 7 Jul 17 Deputy Black began an investigation in reference to telephone harassment.  This case remains under investigation.

On 8 Jul 17 Deputies responded to 38137 State Route 7, Newport, in reference to a report of Ashley L. Griffin, age 30, being intoxicated yelling  and wanting to leave in her vehicle.  Deputies met with Griffin’s parents who advised Griffin was throwing things and was upset that her parents would not leave.  Griffin slurred her speech and was unsteady on her feet.  Griffin continued to be uncooperative with Deputies and was placed under arrest for disorderly conduct by intoxication and transported to the Washington County Jail where she tested .259 on the portable breathalyzer. On 8 Jul 17 Deputy Allender began an investigation regarding a failure to restrain a dog in Newport Township.  This case will be forwarded to the Dog Warden.

On 9 Jul 17 Deputy A. McConnell began an investigation into a possible counterfeit $20 bill passed in Muskingum Township.

 The following warrants were processed at the Washington County Sheriff’s Office:

Christopher Turpin, 731 Glendale Road, Apt. 18, Marietta, for failure to appear; original charge corrupting another with drugs.

Thomas C. Kaptis, 9580 State Route 339, Vincent, for failure to appear; original charge having weapons while under disability.

Tyler J. McMahan, 2111 36th Street, Parkersburg, WV, for failure to appear.

The following subjects were recently sentenced in Washington County Common Pleas Court:

Michael Allen Hupp, age 44, 2230 Green Street, Marietta, for probation violation, a felony, 60 days county jail.

Melverton Tamor Crowther, age 36, 2006 16th Street, Parkersburg, WV, third degree felony trafficking in drugs; 9 months county jail.

The following suspects were processed into the Washington County Jail between Monday 10 Jul 17 and Tuesday 11 Jul 17:

Angela Mae Thompson, age 38, Marietta, for domestic violence and breach of recognizance, misdemeanors. Thompson was arrested in Marietta by Lt. Hunter of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and processed into the Washington County Jail on 10 Jul 17 at 2:14 pm.

Abele Gerawork Fissha, age 23, 1688 Elane Road, Columbus, for contempt of court order, a felony. Fissha was picked up at the Franklin County Jail by Deputy Malone of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and processed into the Washington County Jail on 10 Jul 17 at 5:52 pm.

Stephanie Elizabeth Dunn, age 33, 1170 ½ Goose Run Road, Marietta, for probation violation, a misdemeanor. Dunn was arrested at her residence by Deputy Zide of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and processed into the Washington County Jail on 10 Jul 17 at 11:43 pm.

There are currently 19 females and 87 males incarcerated in the Washington County Jail.
