NEWS RELEASES FOR 05 JUL 17


On 1 Jul 17 Deputy Allender began an investigation in reference to a counterfeit $50 that was passed in Washington County.  This case remains under investigation.

On 1 Jul 17 Jonas Miller, 9 Zion Ridge Road, Marietta, reported a burglary/theft from his residence.  This case remains under investigation. (131)

On 2 Jul 17 Deputy Schwendeman responded to Decatur Township in reference to a report of domestic violence.  Upon speaking with all parties it was determined to be unfounded.  Case closed.

On 2 Jul 17 Deputy Zide was patrolling State Route 7, when he observed a Chevy truck, bearing Massachusetts registration parked alongside the road, blocking the entrance to Smith Concrete.  Deputy Zide stopped to check on the occupants who were immediately nervous and stated on numerous times they weren’t doing anything wrong. They advised they were on their way to the gas station and pulled over to use the telephone.  Deputy Zide asked if there was anything in the vehicle that was illegal and/or making them nervous in which they volunteered consent to search.  Deputy Zide located a small baggie of what appeared to be marijuana. The passenger, identified as Debra L. Cole, 286 Newbury Street Lot 48, Peabody, MA, admitted the substance was marijuana and that it belonged to her.   A citation was issued to Cole for possession of a controlled substance.

On 3 Jul 17 Deputy Zide was patrolling Marietta Township and observed a black Honda bearing Ohio registration in front of my vehicle cross the right fog line and drive upon said line for an extended period of time. This same vehicle later crossed the right fog line again, turning onto Cornerville Road and then onto Browns Road.  At that time a traffic stop was initiated and contact was made with the driver, identified as Emily B. Jackson, age 21, 139 Brant Drive, Marietta.  An odor of what was perceived to be marijuana was detected as soon as the driver began to roll down the window.  Jackson was asked if there was any marijuana in the vehicle to which she replied there was not.   A permission to search was requested from Jackson.  Jackson agreed to the search, and handed a bag to Deputy Zide, which contained marijuana.  This was before any search took place and before she left the vehicle.  Jackson later admitted this to be marijuana.  A citation for possession of a controlled substance was issued to Jackson.

On 3 Jul 17 Deputy A. McConnell responded to Grandview Township in reference to a report of domestic violence.  Upon speaking with all parties it was determined to be unfounded.  Case closed.

On 3 Jul 17 Tonia S. Todd, 2330 Meadowview Drive, Parkersburg, WV, reported her 2000 Dodge Dakota stolen from Sealy Ridge Road, Washington County.  This case remains under investigation.  (1303)

On 3 Jul 17 Deputy Park was dispatched to 445 Dodd Run Road, Marietta, in response to a dispatcher for Ohio Valley Cab reporting she had received a call from an unknown female requesting a cab who was screaming and crying, and attempting to get away from a male at this location. Deputy Parks met with Jodi L. Schofield who advised she had been involved in an altercation with Matthew Schafer.  Schofield advised he had pushed her on three different occasions this afternoon during their arguments.  Schofield had a small, fresh, scratch on her left forearm, and advised she was not sure what it was from.  Contact was then make with Schafer who admitted being involved in a verbal altercation with Schofield, however he states he never touched her.  Schafer advised she (Schofield) had cornered him in the bedroom in an attempt to speak with him as they were arguing over cigarettes.  Schafer stated he was able to exit the bedroom, and she followed him to the rear porch.  Schafer further stated that while outside they continued their verbal argument, and he attempted to come back into the residence at which time Schofield grabbed his shirt, ripping it off of him.  Schofield did admit to ripping Schafer’s shirt off of him.  A summons is being requested for Matthew Schafer, age 38, 445 Dodd Run Road, Marietta, and Jodi L. Schofield, 2608 Avery Street, Parkersburg, WV, charging both with disorderly conduct.

 The following suspects were processed into the Washington County Jail between Monday 03 Jul 17 and Wednesday 05 Jul 17:

Joseph Samuel Cupp, age 27, 978 Kittle Road, Willersburg, OH, for failure to reinstate operators license, a misdemeanor. Cupp was arrested in Scioto County by Trooper Warner of the Ohio State Highway Patrol and processed into the Washington County Jail on 03 Jul 17 at 2:19 pm.

Thomas William Wade, age 34, 9053 Whiteoak Drive, Twinsburg, OH, for speed in highway zones and driving under suspension, both misdemeanors. Wade was arrested on Interstate 77 by Trooper Seabolt of the Ohio State Highway Patrol and processed into the Washington County Jail on 03 Jul 17 at 2:49 pm.

Brandon M Harshbarger, age 28, 1205 Poplar Street, Belpre, for drug paraphernalia and possession of drug instruments, both misdemeanors. Harshbarger was arrested in Belpre by Patrolman Tewanger of the Belpre City Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on 03 Jul 17 at 3:28 pm.

Thomas Alden Statkiewicz, age 24, homeless, for contempt of court order, a felony. Statkiewicz turned himself in at the Washington County Jail and was processed on 03 Jul 17 at 5:42 pm.

Barbara Ann Ketterman, age 37, 108 Colonial Square, Belpre, for probation violation, a misdemeanor. Ketterman was arrested by Probation Officer Brockmeier of the Marietta City Probation Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on 03 Jul 17 at 6:18 pm.

Jeremy Boyce Wiltse, age 33, 442 Happy Valley Lane, Parkersburg, WV, for failure to reinstate operator’s license, a misdemeanor. Wilste was arrested in Belpre by Trooper Payne of the Ohio State Highway Patrol and processed into the Washington County Jail on 03 Jul 17 at 6:38 pm.

Donald Richard Gregor Jr., age 44, 27335 State Route 7 Lot 13, Reno, on warrants for OVI, breach of recognizance, and marked lanes, all misdemeanors.  Gregor was arrested at his home by Deputy Allender of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and processed into the Washington County Jail on 3 Jul 17 at 11:22 pm.

Kelly Jane Farnsworth, age 29, 122 Harmar Street, Marietta, for theft, obstructing official business and resisting arrest, misdemeanors. Farnsworth was arrested in Marietta by Patrolman Ritchie of the Marietta City Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on 03 Jul 17 at 9:20 pm.

Deane Allen Beck Jr., age 37, 1111 Montgomery Street, Marietta, for probation violation.  Beck was arrested at his residence by Patrolman Hanson of the Marietta City Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on 4 Jul 17 at 12:12 am.

Scott Allen Shankland, age 47, 401 Marion Street, Marietta, for breaking and entering, a felony. Shankland was arrested in Reno by Deputy A. McConnell of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and processed into the Washington County Jail on 04 Jul 17 at 1:02 am.

Sara Marie Hess, age 38, 602 Tenth Street, Marietta, for passing bad checks, a misdemeanor. Hess was arrested in Guernsey County by Trooper Jones of the Ohio State Highway Patrol and processed into the Washington County Jail on 04 Jul 17 at 11:25 am.

Timothy Francis Blake, age 36, Marietta, on a warrant for failure to appear, a felony. Blake turned himself in at the Washington County Jail and was processed on 4 Jul 17 at 6:53 pm.

Delbert Daniel Cain, age 41, 107 Ray Street, Marietta, for violation of protection order, a misdemeanor. Cain was arrested in Marietta by Lt. Hornbeck of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and processed into the Washington County Jail on 04 Jul 17 at 10:20 pm.

Dustin Ray Riley, age 32, 735 Seventh Street, Marietta, on a warrant for failure to appear.  Riley was arrested by Patrolman Thomas of the Marietta City Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on 5 Jul 17 at 1:23 pm.

James Arnold Dulaney, age 22, 2503 Beverly Street, Apt. 10H, Parkersburg, WV, for drug paraphernalia, possession of drugs, OVI, driving under suspension, and speed, all misdemeanors. Dulaney was arrested in Belpre by Trooper Knowlton of the Ohio State Highway Patrol and processed into the Washington County Sheriff’s Office on 05 Jul 17 at 2:26 am.

Keith Edward Chamarro, age 52, 2128 McTaggert Street, Belpre, for OVI, a misdemeanor. Chamarro was arrested in Belpre by Patrolman Whittekind of the Belpre City Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on 05 Jul 17 at 3:39 am.

There are currently 21 females and 86 males incarcerated in the Washington County Jail.
