On 12 Jun 17 Sgt. Holbert was on patrol on Interstate 77 and exited at Macksburg, Aurelius Township. Sgt. Holbert approached the end of the exit ramp at SR 821 and observed a white truck stopped at the intersection with the brake lights illuminated. Sgt. Holbert waited a brief moment to see if the truck moved forward, but it did not. Sgt. Holbert initiated a traffic stop and approached the driver side of the vehicle. As Sgt. Holbert approached he observed a male subject asleep with a beer bottle between his legs. Contact was made with the driver, identified as Michael Steven Stewart, age 40, 2301 Pride Avenue, Bridgeport, WV. Stewart rolled the window down and appeared to be startled and confused at which time he lifted his foot off of the brake, causing the truck to move forward. Sgt. Holbert detected an odor of an alcoholic beverage on/or about Stewart’s person. Stewart’s eyes appeared bloodshot as well. When asked if he knew where he was, Stewart stated Pennsylvania. Stewart was then asked to exit the vehicle and was unsteady on his feet. Stewart was asked and submitted to a series of standardized field sobriety tests with poor results. Stewart was placed under arrested and transported to the Washington County Jail for OVI. Upon arrival at the jai Stewart tested 0.169 BAC.
On 14 Jun 17 failure to provide change of address charges were filed on Eric Christopher Edgar, age 32. On 30 Mar 06 Edgar was sentenced to register as a Sexually Oriented Offender for the offense of Gross Sexual Imposition. The sentence required Edgar to register his address with the Sheriff or a designee. On 24 May 17 Deputies were called to the home Edgar and his mother, Diann Gallagher, share at 445 Goss Fork Road, Whipple, OH as Gallagher reported Edgar had threatened her and her elderly mother. Edgar was arrested and held in the Washington County Jail until 31 May 17, giving him until 5 Jun 17 to register a new address. On 6 Jun 17 follow up was conducted with Gallagher to see if Edgar had returned to the residence and she advised he had not nor would he be. On 12 Jun 17 Gallagher phoned Deputy P. Tornes to see if Edgar had reported an address change. Gallagher stated that she had not heard from him. Due to the circumstances a warrant was requested through Marietta Municipal Court for the arrest of Eric Edgar.

Joshua S. Sorcic, 19706 Keenan Cutoff, Montgomery, TX, for failure to appear; original charge OVI.
Daniel Q. Vance, 2033 Cedar Run Road, Friendly, WV, for failure to appear; original charge offense involving underage consumption.
Reginald Pumphrey, 757 Wing Street, Akron, Ohio for failure to appear.
Dustin Riley, 735 North Seventh Street, Marietta, Ohio for failure to appear.
The following suspects were processed into the Washington County Jail between Wednesday 14 Jun 17 and Thursday 15 Jun 17:
Darren Craig Farnese, age 22, 613 Eighth Street, Marietta, for three counts of sex offender registration change of address and two counts of escape, all felonies. Farnese was picked up at North Central Regional Jail by Deputy Malone of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and processed into the Washington County Jail on 14 Jun 17 at 1:59 pm.
Vickie Marie Thompson, age 34, 514 Smith Street, Marietta, for probation violation, a felony. Thompson was picked up at North Central Regional Jail by Deputy Malone of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and processed into the Washington County Jail on 14 Jun 17 at 2:26 pm.
Alicia Dawn Miller, age 33, 9534 N. State Route 60, McConnelsville, for two counts of trafficking in drugs, both felonies. Miller was picked up at Lakin Correctional by Deputy H. Tornes of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and processed into the Washington County Jail on 14 Jun 17 at 2:45 pm.
Kylee Bri Baker, age 39, 106 Ohio Blvd, Marietta, on a warrant for failure to appear, a misdemeanor. Baker was arrested at her residence by Deputy Black of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and processed into the Washington County Jail on 15 Jun 17 at 10:15 am.
There are currently 20 female and 72 males incarcerated in the Washington County Jail.
